studio by night and by day

The moment I met this room, I knew it would be my workspace. Light fills the space through old lead paned windows. Hardwood floors and sliding barn doors.

And as much as I love this space by day, and it really does shine, it’s by night that most of the magic is created.

I’ve always been a night owl. Despite years of trying to train my way into becoming a morning person, despite nearly a decade of working in coffee shops, I am still a night owl through and through. I no longer fight it, though I do try to have some boundaries. If left to my own devices I’d be up til 3 am.

So imagine my delight when I realized that the same lead paned windows that let in all that sunlight also let in the moon.

This first photo is from shortly after we moved in. Few things were unpacked. Nothing was decorated. The space had not yet become what it is today.

But oh the moon. To glance up from my making and be met with the sight of her, what a thrill.

And in the years since, so many late nights have been spent in this space, beading under the moon.
